Rambling into Summer

RAMBLING INTO SUMMER:

Summer Summer Summer… heat… and Fest Festive Festivals… fun!!!!

Sunday, I am off to Quebec to teach for the week, to be lakeside in the Laurentian Mountains. The sounds of the forest will be accompanied by harps… violins, cellos, pianos, flutes and singing… except during siesta time of course!

Sunset on the Bay. I am thrilled to have been invited back to the Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound. I will be playing during the evening cruise on the Island Queen Cruise Ship… drifting out among the islands on Georgian Bay. For this cruise, I will be playing with Anne Lindsay (fiddle) and George Koller (bass). The sunsets are a spectacular backdrop for the cruising concert.

August brings two more festivals and teaching weeks. I will be returning to the amazing and Celtic rich Goderich Celtic College and Festival where I will be teaching and performing with Kim Robertson. The following day I fly to the wilds of BC to teach at the Island Mountain Arts International Harp School with Alys Howe and Maire Ni Chathasaigh.

Cruising into summer… hope to see you soon!
Sharlene

A GLIMMER OF WINTER and SPRING TO COME:

ORCHESTRA SEASON:
I will be playing this year with the Kingston Symphony, Oakville Symphony and now the Guelph Symphony Orchestra!…. when they need harp, of course.

ORCHESTRA SOLOIST:
The Georgian Bay Symphony and conductor John Barnum have invited me to be the guest musician for their Christmas Concert on December 15th. Included will be orchestrations of my pieces Winter Frieze and Acacia Street!! Oh lovely wintertime…

SPECIAL CONCERTS and APPEARANCES:
I have been invited back to play for both Midnight Christmas Eve at the Hamilton Cathedral, and in Timmins next May for the Hospital Fundraiser Gala event! Also, there will be another harp and flute concert with Mate Szigeti sometime in the new year, and I will be returning for the weekend of harp festivities in Ohio with Kim Robertson next May at The Harp Gathering!

Those are the glimmerings for now…
